I then hear some, anything but slender, individuals next to me say something like, "whos he?". The response "thats my boyfriend." And then I hear something like, "he doesn't know how to comb his hair", and then a ton more dim witted insults fly. Now at first I think they are talking about some picture of some guy she has, but hours later I realized that they were talking about me.

From the comments you have said that they were saying it definately sounds more likely that they would be referring to a picture that they are looking at. I don't know what else they said, but from this it sounds more probable that they are not talking about you. Mabey some of the other comments they made sounded like they were directed at you, but I don't know what they were so I can't say for sure. Did you look at them and see if they were pointing at you or looking at you?. You might just be so self conscious that you assumed they must be insulting you, which might not have been the case and it could have had nothing to do with you. Don't get too worked up over it, but if someone comes up to your face and starts throwing insults directly at you, then thats a whole other story.

I've convinced myself on many occassions that things I overheard were directed at me. A few times I found out I was completely wrong.

Maybe you're wrong?

i think you gotta find a better way of dealing with this than to visualise crushing a persons skull. Its not constructive, and i think you should pity the pathetic fools who say things about you. If som1 is taking the piss out of me I'll normally walk away (unless im drunk but thats another story).

Just laugh it off and move to a place that the ass holes aint present!

scatmantom you don't stew over what they said for hours, days or longer? You just laugh it off? I find that hard to believe really.

people who are less hostile live longer. i believe whatever stress you can take out of your life the better. i'm horrible at this really, i mull over things for ages, especially other people. but as often as i can i try and let it go. it's not worth the anger. especially if it's not going to get you anywhere. it can be done.
