Job interview at 2pm today.

I have a job interview today at 2pm. What's worrying me isn't whether or not I'll ace the interview itself, it's more meeting people and being in a strange environment.

It also dawned on me that I could be having one of those group interviews too where they get you to mingle in with different people and have chats with them. Yikes.

Person: "Hi, how are you? What you been up to?"
Me: "Well, I suffer from social anxiety and don't really get out much"

:(

It went terribly. I couldn't get the words out properley and I told her I had social anxiety (which wouldn't effect the work side of things) and I think that scared her off.

I'm not counting on getting this job at all.

:(

That's really bad to hear. I would of kept my anxiety details to myslef, personally, but that's just me.

When you did inform them of your social anxiety, how was her reaction, Dark_Loner? Did she ask you questions about it, ect?

She asked me "tell me something, and be honest. You're obviously bright and intelligent, so what the hell are you doing applying to work here?" and I just told her that I want to work in a small establishment doing a few days because of my anxiety. She asked about how I would deal with customers and stuff, and I told her it would be fine because it isn't personal, but I don't know...I don't think I would have got the job anyway. I couldn't get my words out properley.

I told her I was hard-working, punctual, could do flexible hours, etc. I'm hoping she'll look past the anxiety and take a chance with me. I can do the job easily.

What kind of job did you apply for?

Even if you don't get hired you can walk away from this having gained experience.

Good luck to you.

The fact that you have social anxiety and told an interviewer- one who actually DOES judge your every move and during which being over-analytical is logical- that you have social anxiety is impressive. Don't think she took that lightly, she probably found that to be incredibly honest.
