Is it society?

Are we the ones seeing the world for what it is? I'd like to think most people are smiling and laughing about the dumb things, and I choose not to be a part of that pointless small talk. It would be comforting to think that people who don't suffer from these things are the ones who are ignorant, going about their "normal" happy little lives, not realizing how lucky they are.

So do you think society is screwed up, or do you think you are? Discuss.

You can see society as whatever you want to. Its vague enough that you can get anything you want from it. Same thing as if you look for God everywhere you'll find him and if you look for the absence, you'll conclude God doesn't exist. Some person complaining the world is full of crap is right just as much as the hippy chick talking about how much love there is. They're both annoying as hell...but they both have their points.

We're just some life forms on a big rock in the middle of a huge universe, Nothing we do ultimately matters. If we blew ourselves up the universe wouldn't care at all. But on the other hand, we're right here and now and we ultimately dictate for ourselves what matters. There is no real standard to go by, but the self imposed one.

I think what makes you happy is the most meaningful thing, whatever that may be...

If society is screwed up then people with social anxiety are even screwed up even more. Generally speaking I don't hold myself in high regards and I might even think less of other people. I mean it's hard to take things seriously when you don't respect people/society. But why not laugh at the stupid things? If ultimately nothing really matters, and we're here, why not at least enjoy it?

I think one thing leads to another. Society is screwed up and it screws people up. We are definitely a reflection of societies problems, a very very small and insignificant one when you look at the bigger picture.

This topic reminds me of quite a thought provoking video I watched yesterday.
