When using an Iontophoresis unit such as an Idrostar does it keep you hands and feet dry in hot weather? That seems to be the worse for me.
Anyone who has a machine would you let me know!! Thanks!!

ionto use

Hi,

A while ago I went to the hospital for botox injections (in my hands). However they didn't want to go on with it seeing that till that point I hadn't tried iontophoresis. I figured I didn't want that procedure because of the current trough your body (no matter how low), the constant repetition (instead of botox) and to be honest I couldn't see it working.

In the meantime, I went to a physio and got 8 ionto treatments (got shocked with 40+mA the first time -no, realy), however only once a week. Back then I didn't care (apart from the shock) cause I only went on with it because the hospital said so. It didn't work...even straight after the treatment my hands would still sweat.

However, after the injections, good parts of my hands still sweat, so I'm looking for more. Also, the sweaty feet start bothering me more and more.

My question therefore; when using ionto, when do you start seeing results and in your opinion, would it be possible that when I had the treatment 3 times a week it would work?

Thanks Pinker,

I had botox done in April which helps but really helps the botox is using hydrasol with 15% extra aluminum chloride mixed in. My Dr. prescribed the extra 15% to mix in. As we know that Hydrosal, maxim, etc.at 20% does not work for the hands and feet,i tried and it and it is not strong enough, which is also documented as well. I have ordered a Fischer because I live in the states,I want to use something that isn't medication is why I am getting it. Thanks for all your information on this site I have learned a lot from reading your messages. I have been so embarrased all my life because of hyperhidrosis, that I have advoided my things I wanted to do also in job choices. It has ruined a lot of things in my life. I have decided no more!!! I am willing to almost try any thing to live a happy dry life.

Hi Pinker,

Yes...unfortunately I know it is. The hospital told me to go to a physiotherapist for the treatment, so I did. They had some old machine there, I don't know which one, something like "enrag-..". They also told me they didn't do this therapy much anymore these days, but assured me they knew what they were doing...I didn't really care though since at that point I just wanted to get the botox in the hospital I went to and they required me to do the ionto first, so after the 2nd time they told me to I reluctantly complied. I thought well if I don't get shocked I guess it's fine...only of course I did get shocked...

Anyway, there were two physios, one would do the treatment, so he turned up the amps, but nothing happened. He asked me quite surprised if I felt anything since the machine was already up to about 45 mA, I said that I didn't. So he called the other one, which walked immediately to the machine and found out the + and - weren't yet established...and decided now was as good as time as ever to do so...with 40+mA on it.

Luckily I immediately retracted my hands from the basins even though they had told me not to. And luckily I was still able to. Till about a week afterwards I felt some pressure on my chest, probably the muscles were a bit strain, but it could also be a little imagination. Anyway, certainly it was a scare, luckily at least my heart is (was) healthy...

Anyway, I think I'll try it again and properly this time, the Aluminium doesn't work (I think in general, for hands and feet it's not that great) and ETS scares me too much, so it's probably my best shot for now.

Thanks for the reply.

Apparently not. Straight after they apologized and instead of mad rage I actually went ahead with the first treatment, I guess I was to "shocked" to storm of in anger. The 2nd time I went there was one week later so I had some time to cool down. Of course I did let them know I was quite angry with what happened and that it was stupid, unprofessional and even somewhat dangerous what they did. But from then on it went ok, if unsuccesful and not according to what I know now is the right procedure (it was only once a week).

Now, I think buying one for myself is the best option for me, although they are quite expensive. From the 5 physios in my area there is only one apart from the one I went to who does this treatment, and they have a 15 year old machine as well so I don't think it will be significantly better.

All in all it appears to be the best option for me, although I still don't know for sure whether or not it will work.

Anyway, I'm going to find out which ones are available for me in the Netherlands. At least it's encouriging to hear that you and others with a similar case of HH had succes with ionto even without additives to the water. I can easily do without side effects  . Till a view days ago I had not heard many succes stories about it, but it seems that it's about perseverance in this case.

At this point I probably have only one year of college ahead of me so now is as good a time as any to get a break before the work starts.
