Hi everyone.I'm new here :) I've had to cope with excessive sweating all over my body (auxilalry HH in particular) for the past 13 years or so (and which is getting worse over the years) but I've never tried any medication etc for it.However, yesterday I bought oxybutynin tablets (2.5 mg) and I took three of them but it did not affect my HH at all.I still sweat as much as I normally do.So today I went and bought 5 mg tablets and I just popped one right now. Here are a few questions I would like to be answered.

1. How long does it take for the drug to start working (i.e. reduce my HH?)
2. Does it cause constipation?Im really worried about this side effect because I have a history of constipation and haemorrhoids.
3. Is there anyone here who's tried oxybutynin but didnt work?

Thanks :)

1. Can take up to 5 hours to start working. Effectiveness can vary each time. Whether you have ate or not can affect how well it works as well. Remember you are taking this medicine for its side effects....

2. Yes, Drink lots of water throughout the day, exercise, and eat fiber.

3. Oxybutynin has been given up by most HH users for the more favorable glycopyrrolate.

Thanks :) I think my sweating is reduced today,or am i just imagining :D The tablets leave my mouth very dry which leaves me with a not so pleasant breath ::(: i think it's also making me lose my appetite but that's ok cos I need to lose weight anyway.

Ok this is really weird.Today I took 5mg of oxybutynin in the morning, another one in the evening and a 2.5 mg tablet a few hours ago.I live in a place which experiences really hot summers and today for the first time in 13 years,I did NOT sweat!!!The tablet works!!yay..I usually shower thrice a day in summer and still smell/sweat but today my morning shower was enough to keep me feeling fresh all through the day.I hope this lasts:)

I Read the above post with great optimism, I order some 5mg tablets and the side effects for me are pretty severe. However I sweat anytime anywhere, there could be snow and i'm sweating. Its mainly my head, trunk area. It's so bad, I cant go anywhere or do anything normal. I have always notice my sweating was never this bad until I reached my Teens. Runs in the family, too, so if your thinking of kids, they will get this too.
I 'm 29
I live in NY,
I'm 5'9, Male 250lb
I take 5mg 3 times a day.
I have taken for only 2 weeks.
It makes me so drowsy I could never drive, or work in this conditioned. Its like being stoned all day.It does Reduce the amount of sweat, but does not make the sweat stop completely. It makes me wanna sleep all day.
-Blurred Vison, I have to have eye drops on hand to see.
-Dry mouth, like severe cotton mouth, gums helps.
-It feels like i have sinus cold all the time. the tickle of the throat can be maddening. I have gone through a case of poland spring in about 3 days.
-I haven't notice a reduction in peeing, as i pee all the time, thanks to this unquenchable thirst.
-Bowel movements of 3 times a day, reduce to one a day, if I'm lucky.

Thanks to this wonderful Recession, I am jobless, and all future job interviews are gonna be horrific.
I mainly work in call centers where interacting with people face to face was minimal, but having a small fan on you during winter did draw some funny looks.
I got a bout 90 pills left and these pills scare th sh#t out of me.
I have no insurance so I obtained them online with out a script.
Maybe im not taking them at the correct time, or dosage, 15mg a day seems high? I'm looking a topical solutions, now sweat-stop .
Lemme know if any of you have had similar stories.
Good luck.:)

Hi there,

I've used oxybutynin for a brief period of time. I used 3*2,5mg which in hindsight might not have been enough (I'm 6"3'). It worked somewhat on my generalised sweating, but not so much on my hands and feet (occasionally I would notice some difference but not enough). I then quit the med because I didn't like the fact that it crosses the brain blood barrier while that isn't necessary; there are quaternary amines like robinul out there that don't and otherwise have the same if not better effects on hh. Problem is however that in oral tablet form they are not readily available here in Europe for some reason. But even then just the idea of taking something that effected my cognitive function while something is out there that doesn't made me angry and I decided not to take it anymore.

I would try to get glycopyrrolate/robinul/avert if you can. I'm still trying to do that right here; got a lead on a neurologist who uses it in the form of a drinkable solution, I'm hoping that could be useful for hh and that he will prescribe it at long last. In the US, tablets should be available under the name robinul and robinul forte, so that might work for you, noobs4us, and get rid of at least some of the side-effects (particularly the stoned feeling should be less).
