I'm suppose to start this job at a help desk to work weekends so the kids can go out and have their fun. Anyways, I am affraid! I am affraid to start. What if I screw up or get too nervous to do the job. God, I can't stand not being able to provide for myself!!!

I know how you feel, and it does suck big time. But we have to literally force ourselves out there, or how else are we going to overcome these demons? I have felt so uncomfortable since starting work again yesterday, that I actually started to get heart discomfort again. I was given some Ativan at the hospital, but i'm just so sick of going through this! Just take some deep breaths and tell yourself that everything will be just fine, and if you need meds for the anxiety, it wouldn't hurt to take something just to get you through the first days of the job. Hey,good luck!

I've been looking for work and have been having those fears too. I've actually been relieved at all the rejection because not having a job will ensure that I don't have to deal with those types of things.

So... I'm one to talk but here's my take.

You shouldn't be focusing on how nervous you are ahead of time. Don't even think about the upcoming event in a negative way. Thinking about how bad your going to screw up is going to make you feel even more unsure about yourself on that particular day.

I know that feeling, don't let it win. Going will only be a good thing for you in no way will it be negative...think about it that way.

We all get nervous doing a new job. But you just got to strap on a pair and face it. As soon as you have done it once you will be fine.

Go for it. Good luck

I didn't go.

And now you have a guilty conscience. The more you let those chances go by, the worse you'll feel. Trust me, it's a great feeling to be able to be talking to someone online (for instance) and saying "okay, I have to go to work and I'll be back later". The feeling of self-accomplishment is amazing. Trust me, it was extremely hard for me to get that job during the summer. I had to spend 9 hours out of home on the first day because of, well, all the things you have to go through with a new job, but I made it. And trust me, I had to fight off a lot of demons for that, had to fight a few anxiety attacks by myself, too. And again, trust me on this, I wanted to run away quite a few times that day, but I stayed there and fought it.

Dude, go seek professional help, a psychiatrist. You probably just lost your job because of that. You need help from a professional, not the internet.
