I know the cure...

Huge social breakthrough here people, gather around!

Look, I know shy people. They all have certain traits in common. Same with those with OCD, panic attacks, SP, SA, and even people who go red in the face (and yes, I've had ALL of the above conditions in my life so far!). Now before I begin, I'm not attempting to treat or diagnose anything... blah blah blah...however, it can certainly help, so listen up! I've gotten rid of every one of those problems stated above (besides my minor SA which still remains here and there), and I'm certain you can too. Believe it or not, whatever you think you're afraid of - you're most likely way off. Sometimes, all it takes is one unfortunate scenario - and then, your mind creates a fear cycle. Odd thing is, you begin to feel afraid - not of your original subject - but of the very FEAR itself! And believe me, it's the absolute truth. If you don't believe me, conduct your own experiments... and just try to prove me wrong (seriously)! The mind works very habitually, so this 'fear cycle' tends to ruin your life experience because you're doing everything you possibly can in order to avoid this fear. Therefore, social interactions and other activities that normally make people a little jittery or a tad bit nervous, become a living hell for sufferers.

Fortunately, there's hope. And a TON of it. If you think I'm being overly optimistic or unrealistic, let me assure you of something (I've lived years with pessimism and I finally feel like I'm breaking free) - negativity gets you nowhere at all. Therefore, if you feel totally skeptical about this, it might just not be for you... but I do encourage you to try it sometime again in the future. However, for those of you who are still with me and have some faith in what I'm saying here, and have a will to change your life for the better - this one's for you. Stick with me and I'll explain what's put a smile on my face and a will to live another day... and even what's made me happy enough to write all this out for you.

Ready for this? The cure lies within ACCEPTANCE. That's right. For this moment in time, I'm going to encourage you to point out your insecurities, point out what's making you feel so bummed out, and just ACCEPT it all. Or at least for the time being. Accept your faults - you're only HUMAN. You're not perfect, no matter how much you wish you were! So just take a giant deep breath in, and let it out. For now, I want you to do something VERY IMPORTANT. Can you do that for me? I want you to spend the rest of your existence... ready for this one? I want you to spend a good, long while... having no wishes to change yourself. At all. Period. Why? Because I want you to realize something truly awesome, weather you agree with me or not: You're perfect just the way you are! So have some passion, have a backbone about standing your ground - no matter what you decide to define the words 'your ground' as! Whatever floats your boat, because this is your life. If anybody tells you how to live it, they can stuff it and worry about their own life!

Whoo. Just to let you know, none of this is copy and pasted. I have a huge desire to help out those I can, and I see so many of you on the SPW forums who are so close to verging on this cure... and you don't even know it! You've figured most of it out but just might be having trouble with that 'acceptance hump' (as I like to call it). So congratulations. This is YOUR life. What are you going to do with it?

I've been letting my hair grow, which seems to piss off some co-workers and neighbors. They make snide remarks like: "he looks like a clown", "guys with long hair are ugly", etc. But I'm not gonna cut my hair for some ignorant idiots. So I'll just laugh at their feeble attempts to change me. Fuck them! I'm not going to become a hermit again because some assholes can't keep their stupid opinions to themselves.

Yes, acceptance is part of the answer. Acceptance won't cure you, but it can allow you to live the life you want, regardless of anxiety, or others opinions of you.

ALL HELL CAN'T STOP US NOW!!

People say I'm no-good,
And crazy as a loon.
I get stoned in the morning,
I get drunk in the afternoon.
Kinda like my old blue tick hound,
I like to lay around in the shade,
An', I ain't got no money,
But I damn sure got it made.

'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',
If I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

Preacher man talkin' on the TV,
He's a-puttin' down the rock 'n' roll.
He wants me to send a donation, 'Cos he's worried about my soul.
He said: "Jesus walked on the water", And I know that is true,
But sometimes I think that preacher man,
Would like to do a little walkin', too.

But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',
If I can't get it on my own.
You don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

Instrumental Break.

A poor girl wants to marry, And a rich girl wants to flirt.
A rich man goes to college, And a poor man goes to work.
A drunkard wants another drink of wine, And a politician wants a vote.
I don't want much of nothin' at all, But I will take another toke.

'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', If I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin',
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

I know what you mean. A couple of my family members informed me that I've gained some weight and I'd look better if I lost it. I'm really glad they told me because I don't quite hate myself enough yet!!

what an inspiring post! sometimes i'm real optimistic and think, "where is my life going? i'm wasting my time in doubts and fears. i've got no life. i gotta turn it around." and stuff like that. i read somewhere that avoiding what you fear will make it worse, so we should, *ahem* "face our fears". and that sounds right, if you ask me. but sometimes my confidence is sooo very low so i just couldn't be bothered... :?

I have accepted, does not mean I like it though. Bitter is the key word, bitter that the generic human can simply shrug this away while it sticks in me like barbed arrows which are rather painful to pull out...

Though acceptance is a huge breakthrough and essential for walking in the correct direction.

Another thing I love is that people say its a mindset and personal when in reality, if all our fellow mankind didnt keep putting us down so much and the enviroment was more loving (ect.) then we would not be like this, of course all people get/do this its just we are more sensitive. Its less personal that some would think and im sure many agree with this.

Well that was a pointless post xD. Ah sleep I wish I knew you. Also, rich tea biscuits bloody rule (when they dont get lost in the tea D: ).
