good morning

I do hate moles. I wish I was mole free. I would be maximally happy if I had a possibility to remove all my moles. I want to have a totally smooth and homogeneous skin! I would love to get any new moles stopped from appearing and get the old moles removed.

Is it a OCD symtom? I guess it is.

good bye

thats not an ocd symptom at all, unless you obsess about your moles and spend hours every day thinking about them. That could be a symptom of BDD - "body dysmorphic disorder" - which is similar to OCD and includes obsessional disapproval with exaggerated bodily features. It sounds like you just don't like moles. I have many moles and I don't really like them, but for the most part they don't bother me.

BDD? But I hate the moles in every ppl, not only me. I thought, BDD is there if some person dislikes his/her appearance or body. But I do
dislike moles in other ppl aswell. Actually this symtom has maken me think
it is the OCD symtom. You made me astonish with your sure opinion it is not the OCD symtom.

good bye

I don't think this is ocd either, but it could very well be something else. Everyone has little obsessions and compulsions, it's when they get out of hand that it becomes ocd. Not wanting moles is not taking chunks of time out of your day and so it is probably not ocd.

sorry to mislead you, snaefridhur, but i didn't expect you to take what i said so seriously.

but I think that what I said was "thats not a symptom of OCD at all, unless you obsess about it for hours every day and it affects your life significantly". I stand by that statement because almost everyone in the world has obsessions, and some people have obsessions with hygeine, or organization, or perfection, but these obsessions are not of the Obsessive-Compulsive nature unless they take up hours every day, are unavoidable, and are debilitating.

you simply said that you hate moles, want uninterrupted homogenous smooth skin, and wish you could remove your moles. Moles are imperfections, and since your body is your life, obviously it would be nice to rid it of imperfections. You never stated, however, that your distaste for moles was debilitating, intrusive, took up hours of your day everyday, provoked feelings of disgust or imbalance, etc. These would be the signs that it is an obsessive compulsive symptom.

some people, myself including, have a general feeling of disgust toward moles. Despite my disgusted feelings toward moles, I have probably 20 of them, one noticeable one on my face, and though I HAVE been diagnosed with OCD and see a therapist regularly for it, I think about my mole and other people's moles for no more than 60 seconds every day.

Please don't accuse me of having the diagnosing qualities of a professional doctor, i never claimed to have them, I'm simply here for the same reasons as everybody else: looking for some help, and trying to give some help. I would also never tell someone with absolute certainty that they did or did not have OCD, but like I said, a distaste in moles, even a hatred for moles, is NOT a symptom of OCD, but with a significant degree of intensity, it could be. And even if you don't obsess about moles for hours every day, that STILL doesn't mean you don't have OCD. I don't obsess about them for hours every day, and I DO have OCD.

good luck
