Hi to everyone, my name is chris i am 31 years old and live in northamptonshire, i began suffering from agoraphobia after i was mugged in 1997, they left me with head injury which left me in hospital for while, i was suffering from amnesia as i couldnt remmeber my life before the inccident, i still have lapse's of it these days, i stopped going out as much and started to use alcohol to get the confidence to go out,so many of years i ended up drinking my life away, i am still agoraphobic but my alcohol intake got less,my doctor when i first was diagnosed with agoraphobia thought it was depression, so he gave me Seroxat the drug that was not properly tested, which made my nervous system go out of sync, causing addiction and thoughts of taking my own life, i was better off with out them. but now its been a few years on i have my own place and life is well, i learnt to coupe without the drugs or tablets they offered, i am glad i found this site as i need to talk to others to see how they cope with life,

thank you and i thank you the makers of this site.

That's awesome, Chris. Sounds like you overcame a lot of your problems, and it's good to see you can cope without medication. Side effects can practically defeat the purpose of the meds altogether, eh? Shit's weak.

Welcome to the forums, looking forward to your future posts. 8)

Thank you. it was hard but when what happend to me was a mixture of blessing,i wasnt a man who was decent or was nice. i was a criminal a drug addict, scum of the earth as some would have called me. so maybe i should thank them for making me this way or i wouldnt be alive today. talk about ironic.

I agree with Vancouver it's really great you have overcome your problems :) I admire the fact you had a lot of courage to get where you are today!

I'm new here too, I joined yesterday after looking for a site to find people who share the same problems as me. It was nice to see this site and I'll be glad to chat with anyone. Please leave me a message!

oh I'm from Northamptonshire too, hehe
