hypnotherapy? will it work for my social phobia?

well I went to the cinema last night to see TRANCE. It was about a guy who had stolen a painting had been hit in the head and had forgotten where he put the painting and a woman hypnotised him to reawaken that memory. The film goes onto to say that hypnotising someone can make them remember, forget or do anything that you want them to do.

It got me thinking, I think I could be hypnotised, and have that fear of social situations and anxiety removed from my brain, have the brain kind of lock it up. I think it could work and I am a strong believer in being able to overcome something via hypnotherapy.

my question is what are your beliefs? will it do more harm than good? and has anyone experienced this and if so could you tell me the outcome?

im very curious about hypnotherapy, ive only seen it done on TV so don't believe in it completely. only problem i find is unless you video it or have a friend watch you have no idea what they could be doing to you.

if you go with someone you can trust who stays in the room with you to make sure you don't get messed with or something then i think it could be a good idea.
