Hyperhidrosis or social phobia...or both ?

Hi there!

I was wondering what condition i have...i have been seeing a therapist/psycholigist for 2 years, but they never give my condition a name.

So here is what i have;

I ussualy sweat alott when i have to get social. Like waiting in a long line at the supermarket, when i am on the phone with someone important, talking to someone on the street who i havn't seen for ages, sitting in the train/standing in the train( then ussualy thinking; '' oh no, i hope no one will talk to me''). I tend to sweat then, because i think going to sweat. When there is no one in the train or no one on the street i don't sweat at all. I only sweat in social conditions. I do sweat when i exercise, but that's normal. So i sweat when i think about it...+ in social situations.

So what do you guys think, is it a social phobia(sweat anxiety?) or hyperhidrosis...or a combination?

I think we're totally in the same situations right now but I didn't know it iether. I am so quite one time when I am watching tv in front and the show is comedy and somebody sit behind me and he watch also the show is so funny, but I'm too shy to laugh because of the person behind me he also knows that I am too shy so I don't want him see me laughing but when I need to laugh at the tv I just so quite and laugh silently but sweating, and second time around when I need to laugh instead of cry because I can't move because of shyness so my tears falling while the person behind me keeps laughing and all I need to do is wait for show to end and after the show end I cry in the bedroom and ask myself why is it like this so hard.... I want to hurt myself whenever I feel so bad like this... so I don't know what to do with this life it's so hard.

if it is an abnormally large amount of sweat when your in a social situation maybe its just anxiety-induced hyperhidrosis....but most likely its just a side effect of you being nervous...because as someone with severe hyperhidrosis....this is usually if you sweat abnormal amounts on a regular basis, not just when anxious

For me I sweat profusely in a number of situations - social situations, hot or humid weather, claustrophobic situations and exercise.

The way I see it is that if I can just overcome the social anxiety aspect altogether I would be A LOT better off to start with. The other two will probably always be with me, but I can deal with that.

Easier said than done though hey.

Hi,

I used to sweat in similar situations. In my case, it seems that I may have a pheochromocytoma, which is usually a benign tumor which can be removed with surgery.

Many people told me that it was anxiety induced HH, but it seems it isn't.

Hope it helps!
