what is your disability?? if it's just that you find it hard to be around people and your in the USA,unless you have post traumatic stress disorder because you served in the armed forces ( and even then can be hard to get at times and I can't even imagine what some people that have gone through wars feel like having people killed in front of them)..well good luck....you will be turned down many times and probably never get it because now a days too many people who just don't want to work are trying to do that..i have no idea why they would want to take government money and just sit and vegitate for the rest of their lives ,but some do....and if you are young unless you are mentally ill and proven to be so ,most will assume you will grow out of it and it is a phase and a lot of people go through it but still work.

the counselor told me that too. that its a very difficult and lengthy process. I should of added that I have mild deafness

well with 'mild deafness' you can get a hearing aid if you don't already have one...some of the new ones can barely been seen at all, and if your hair is long enough it will be covered up anyway.....

i lost 40% hearing after a head injury and i could work with it well enough.i also have met some that have been deaf 100% from birth, that is a bit harder to deal with but i have seen people cope very well with it anyway,so i consider myself very lucky it's only 40% loss.

IMO unless the hearing loss was work related it will be next to impossible to get,but who knows...also if you are young like I said, very unlikely .

i see on another post you were asking close to the same question and said something about co workers not talking to you..perhaps you may want to look for another job that you like better.many times people are just not happy in the job they have and just no longer want to go to it...I'd be checking out other jobs at this time and try something new when the right one comes along.

this may not be what you wanted to hear, but it's prob a more logical aproach to a situation you do not seem happy with.

in my country you can get disabillity for social anxiety disorder and I have it (also for the generalized anxiety) I don''t know how easy it is in the USA but SA is a serious condition and should be not underestimated.. maybe you can add up depression and you probably will get your benefits... but I don't should way to long america economy not so good they probably gonna cut on the goverment benifits for disabillity.. just see it as temporary thing first work on your self and work comes later.

the distinction for deafness as a disability is whether you can understand normal spoken communication without the assistance of hearing aids

i'm not sure what the age requirements are to qualify for disability, but i assume you must not be claimed as a dependent by anyone else - meaning your parents can't claim you as a dependent when they file for income tax

my brother has been deaf since birth - he gets disability
