Hiking Alone

Ok, some or most of you will probably think i'm nuts, but I want to go hiking in Crater Lake for my b-day this weekend. But unfortunately, I will be alone. It is more crazy because I am a female, but really, i'm not that worried about it. Have any of you ever hiked alone, and if you have, what advice could you give me? I am an inexperienced hiker, and this will be my first real hike. I am exited :D

Hey, a nature person like me :D ! I go out in the woods all the time, alone or with my son, who is 10. That's not a big, exciting trip like going to Crater Lake, but I love being out in the woods and fields, away from people and noise. I feel much safer alone in the woods than I do when I go down town. Advice? Make sure someone knows where you are going, and about what time you will be back. Take your cell phone with you, make sure it is charged. Wear insect repellant. Take a rucksack with enough to eat and drink. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. I'm sure you'll have a great time!
