Hiding at work

Has anybody been so scared to walk through the door of the office etc where u work? Last week i was so scared to go in i waited for 4 mins outside. Today was the same, i just hide away in the toilets. Ive got such paranoia its unbelievable. But when work finishes i am less anxious.

hello mate,
where as ive never had it that bad i can feel ur pain! i no its easier said than done but you need to overcome this, personally i have ups & downs of my anxiety, i do still find myself avoiding certain situations but never to the extent of not going into work or hiding in the toilets, i will maybe jus take a walk 2 feel more relaxed or avoid certain groups of people & take long routes around them to avoid confrontation.
what you've got to think to yourself is did you get anything out of hiding in the toilets or waiting outside whilst plucking up the courage to go into work? the answer is probably NO! u probably made it worse... rather than standing/sitting there thinikng u were building up confidence & courage to enter the intimidating situation, u were more likely building up more & more anxiety than u had originally which probably made it worse when you finally did enter the workplace, ask yourself another question, after u did enter the situation u were so scared of, was there really anything to be scared of? again... NO! your still alive arnt u lol

i no its sooo much more easily said than done mate believe me but i strongly believe u will get better because i have!

i will ask u to do 1 thing!....

next time you go to work (maybe on 1 of ur more happier days to start with!) try not to wait outside, dont even think them negative thoughts, put ur head up high, maybe whistle a little tune on ur way & be you! just bop into work, say hello to people u no on ur way past with a smile & believe me u'l feel alot better about ur day & if u continue 2 do this... THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER!

good luck bruv!

I understand completely. Just walking through the door is so hard.

Does anyone else find that Fridays are the worst day of the week at work? I go in every Monday thinking maybe this is the week I will be able to deal normally with people but by Friday my stress levels are through the roof!

To be honest I find fridays easier than mondays, mondays are difficult because over the space of the weekend I build up anxieties for going to work / college, but by friday I'm used to it, and I know that I get a lie in the next day. But everyone's different :)

when i use to work! it was horrible because i worked on checkouts and when a customer would start a conversation i would go red(go red i hate that phrase). but there was no escape i had to carry on scanning away with a glowing beacon for a head. it was reallly embarrising when i clocked them clocking my cherry.

Do you find that energy wise the week drains you so by friday all you want to do is slob? I find that the more tired I am the more the fear can take a grip. I make sure i get plenty of sleep and I am ok - most of the time.......

I used to have alot of trouble handling the paranoia at work. I worked a factory and it was so mind-numbingly boring, and mixed with the SP, i used to dread going in! It got to the point where i would get near to the door and the stop and hesitate. Matters got worse and on a number of occasions i would get to the factory, and turn around and walk for miles back home!

Eventually i got a different job which i stuck at for a year, with SP getting worse. Daily i would retreat to the toilet to try calming down......
.....Now i have been out of work since last Feb' (2005)!!....And looking for something i can do at home, or on my own.

It's the opposite for me...Mondays are always the worst for me. By Friday I've gotten a little more used to everything and I know I have the next 2 days off...plus, I get a check which is always nice. But then Monday it all just starts over again...actually I hate Sundays because I just dread going back to work the next day, which sucks.

This is exactly me. When I arrive for work, I'm ususally very hot and anxious, and have to retreat to the toilet to collect myself.

I've been working at the same place for 5 years and I still haven't got used to it- its so frustrating.

Mondays are the worst day for me, as I know that I've got a full week ahead of me before the weekend.
