Hi All,
This week i came across a newspaper article discussing HH and i finally found out what has been afflicting me all these years. it feels great to finally know!
In my case though, the day to day sweating is now quite mild compared to some of the stories i have read in these forum posts. I have always sweat a lot but it never seemed to bother me too much so perhaps that has kept it in check? The issue i do face though is sweating when exercising.
i rarely go to the gym, but love to do endurance events - adventure racing, long distance running, mountain /road biking, outrigger paddling, running, triathlon etc On a hot and humid day i can easily lose 3.5 liters of water an hour, whilst the intestine can only adsorb 1.5 liters per hour. Needless to say, it doesnt take long before de-hydration is a serious problem. Cramping both quads and hams at the same time is not fun! It is a logistical nightmare trying to carry enough liquid to ensure i don't run out in the middle of nowhere. No matter what sport i am doing it looks like i have been swimming fully clothed.
Does any one else like endurance sports and have any suggestions how to over come this issue?
Do you think ionto treatment would help?
Would taking tablets or having surgery affect my bodies ability to regulate temperature and leave me at risk of over heating?
Other symptoms i have are quite bad Raynaulds - big problems setting up a tent in the snow! and muscle twitches particularly in my calves. I often have cramps at night, particularly after intense exercise, all over my body - ever had cramp in your ear?! It seems to me that at least part of the problem -twitches and cramps are related to a nervous system problem and failure to deliver nutrients to where they're most needed. Is this a common issue with HH sufferers?
I have spoken to quite a few doctors and they were all clueless. At least now i am slightly better informed.
Would be nice to hear from anyone in a similar position
