having no luck

So this more if a story/rant than anything

For 4 years and a half I worked in customer service, in a call center. Obviously it was horrible for me and I hated every single time I went there, it was one of the reason why I was always depressed.

So I always tried to find a new job but without luck. I had some interviews but never got jired. So this summer i got hired for a summer job. The job it was mostly manual work with little interaction with anyone. I was happy, no stress, no people most of the time it was great, boring but better than anything else I ever did.

The problem is that I have a bad neck since last year which was never fully treated. I was always concern for neck while I was working and was wondering if I would he able to do the whole summer with an injured neck. Well sadly I found out the hard way that my neck was in no way shape to allow me to survive the whole summer.

You see I have two small herniated disk in my neck, it affect both the right and left side. The left side was never badly damage but the right side was. With time the left side got more and more injured but never so bad. Unfortunately, yesterday I had to move around a lot of boxes, more than usual and my neck couldn't handle it. So I woke up this morning eith a complete bad neck. I did a stretch video that often do when I feel bad but it had no effect. So midway to work I got off the bus and headed for the clinic.

The doctor gave me same the pills he gave me last year but more powerful ( I took some and it really knocked me out) and muscle relaxant. Also a paper to go see a specialist to help with the recovery.

So here I'm in a worse shape that I was, which wasn't even great before. I'll most likely quit my job since it would just be too dangerous to continue. I have no money, 2500$ of debt on my credit card. I still didn't quit the call center, but I don't want to go back to that $&#% hole that treated me like crap for so long. I can't use insurance for work related injury since I was injured before working there.

Just an advice, don't spend all your time on the computer it might ruin your life

That's terrible, I feel sorry for you.

Is this permanent, or will it pass with time? Did the doctor confirm that too much time at the computer was the casue of the problem?

He say that it's not something that is big, but iI was too busy to take care of it, as if money was more important than my health. SO now I'll just make my debt worse but I'll get in better shape.

Yea he did say the computer was because i'm always leaning my neck forward. I have to buy a new desk and chair to be in a better position. Increasing my never ending debt as well

An impossible situation. When it's the neck or spine it feels a bit more serious, not to mention scary. Perhaps your old job "helped" to push you into this?

Yea it did, I wanted to get out of there so badly that I would have took almost anything over it. I was tired of not doing anything, always being in front of a computer, I was glad that I was moving at least
