Have to smile :(

I have a problem....
I used to have really bad teeth, they were so crooked and I had too many and my jaw was um....deformed looking...anyway, the orthadontist fixed it for me...It's taken about eight years of work and he says it's the best work he's ever done and he never expected it to work because he'd never seen anything so bad before...problem is he wants to use me in an orthadontic presentation....I have to stand there and smile and have photo's done, he's been showing off moulds of my mouth to and you can tell he's really proud of his work.....But I can't smile....I get to nervous and scared.....What do I do? I have four weeks to get ready for it, I don't want to let him down, I owe him that much considering how hard he worked on me....How do I manage a smile?

That sounds very terrifying! well, I think you should practice in a mirror and give your best smile. Maybe even smiling at some strangers when you go out? I dont know what else to say except stay optimistic and keep finding a reason to smile. Hope everything works out for you in the end! after the presentation it will all be worth it

hey Emma, i know exactly what you mean :!: ..when i was younger, i wore braces also..and when i had the braces removed, i had a really hard time relearning how to smile..and it still feels a little awkward, but trust me, it will improve with time..and you'll feel more comfortable...as far as the picture with your dentist..don't worry too much about it, just go in and get it over with..just think how pretty you look with your new teeth

Hey Emma,

Glad to hear about your teeth, just remember why the dentist chose you to take photos of, becuuse he thinks you look good and you must have the right image that he wants to promote his business.

As for smiling, all i can say is dont worry, i know thats easy to say, but try not to look at yourself in the mirror to much focusing on it as it may only make you self concious. On the day the photographer knows that people get nervous infront of the camera and he will have his little ways of getting people to smile :D

Let us know how it goes
