Hate Noise & Hperactivity - anyone with this problem?

Hi, I am happy to have found this website. I don't know if anyone suffers from my problems. I once saw an article in Prevention magazine but don't know where I put the article. I cannot find anything on the Internet. My problem: I get super-stressed out/stomach "tied up in knots" around noises (many sources--kids talking, people on cell phones, babies crying, etc.) and hyperactivity (i.e., kids). Needless to say, I simply cannot stand babies and children. This condition is getting much worse as I get older. I am becoming more anti-social all the time and trying to avoid public places when possible.
Also, I am in my late 40's, and noises are becoming louder and louder as I get older! I don't understand this.

Can anyone on this website help shed some light on my issues?

Thanks,

BR

Greetings uncmn1101

I know that a trait of one of the 6 types of ADD / ADHD is being hyper-sensitive to light and sounds. I will cut and paste the article and the URL I read on it here:

Type 6: Ring of Fire ADD

Symptoms: primary ADD symptoms plus extreme moodiness, anger outbursts, oppositional, inflexibility, fast thoughts, excessive talking, and very sensitive to sounds and lights. I named it Ring of Fire after the intense ring of overactivity that I saw in the brains of affected people. This type is usually made much worse by stimulants.

SPECT: marked overall increased activity across the cortex, may or may not have low prefrontal cortex activity

Supplements: multiple vitamin, NeurOmega fish oil, NeuroLink (contains 5HTP, GABA and L-tyrosine)

Medications: Anticonvulsants (such as Neurontin) and SSRI medication, or the use of the novel antipsychotic medications such as Risperdal or Zyprexa.

I understand that this only mentions your sensitivity to sounds and not activity and I may be off in left field. but this article is what immediately came to mind when I read your post.

Good Luck!
