I agree I do not think Superchump really knows what social anxiety is. If all people at age 17 have social anxiety, then it is strange to me that at age 17 I was sitting alone in the cafeteria everyday (unable to talk much)because of my social anxiety while the rest of my classmates were talking together in groups. If they also has social anxiety, why were they not the same way? So every 17 year old has social anxiety? I do not think so. "Social anxiety" differs from shyness of social awkwardness in that the fear becomes so great it is debilitating in some aspect of life. If it were something that I could just "turn off" I would gladly have done it years ago. I agree with Superchump that everyone experiences anxiety and social anxiety. What Superchump fails to comprehend that those with social anxiety disorder become debilitated in some way because of it.
