would anyone know if psychiatrists take medical insurance? and how expensive it would be? i'm too embarassed to ask my friends and i don't want to worry my parents with this question...

Don't make the mistake of excluding your parents. I have in the past and they have always ended up saving me. They are your best friends because only parents have their child's best interest at heart, not some pretentious BS.
