Excess Sweating

Recently i have been having problems with sweating with a particular unpleasant experience today. I had to have a one on one meeting with an attractive member of the opposite sex, feeling the anxiety coming on i downed 50mg of propranolol which usually stops sweating for me, anyway my shirt visibly sopping weat, my face dripping with sweat, and i made an excuse that i wasn't feeling well and will need to reschedule the meeting.
I'm not sure if the 150mg of venlafaxine i take increases sweating much, but it's one of the side effects
Does anybody else have problems with sweating? Can anybody relate? So embaressing. Thanks... :(

I take 300mg of venlafaxine a day with propranolol also. I also have a huge problem sweating. there is not much I can do.. as my sweating is all over legs/butt especially. But if it is mostly from underarm sweating I have tried the new clinical strength deodorants that have come out lately and they work for underarm sweating. It is recocomented to put the deodorant on at night after showering so it plugs your sweat glands overnight when you are cooler... supposed to be more effective that way.

Hope that helps a little bit.. or at least you know you're not the only one with that problem.

hi jeremy..
do you have any problems with hand tremor? possibly venlafaxine related? I do and i'm only on half your dose and when i upped it to 225 my tremor got much more severe.. i think part of my tremor is venlafaxine but most of it is anxiety.. cheers

Venlafaxine is bad stuff, I knew someone who used to take it. It's very possible the sweating is a side-effect of that medication. I'd try to get on a different antidepressant if I were you.

while on the topic on venlafaxine what are other peoples opinions of it? last time i tried stopping it i was virtually having non stop anxiety attacks... one of the good things about it is if u take a higher does 225 and above you get a pretty good buzz when you are drinking :)

When I first started taking Effexor/venlafaxine I did have some muscle tics/spasms/jerks... guess you could call them tremors... but I've been at my present dosage for about 6 months now and I haven't had any.

It is a very powerful drug and you can't stop taking it all at once... I have missed doses and I get upset stomach/headache/dizziness and become very tired for a weeks... just from missing a dose or two.

If you do deside to switch to something else I think it is recommended to lower it by 37.5mg at a time over several weeks. but that would be something you want to talk to your doctor about.

Hope my experience with it helps answer some of your questions.

If you want to stop you should lower the dose over at least two weeks - don't just stop taking it, it messes with your brain.

okay back to the sweating issue. I always have had the sweating under the arms and its always when the SA gets up there. What type of deoderants have worked for people?
I really want to try one since I am still having issues with it.

Yeah, it does. I stopped taking it suddenly after four years on 150mg. I'm getting brain shocks, disturbed sleep and some days I feel like crying for no reason at all.

I can't say I care about the side effects though. The drug is a pile of crap. It does more harm than good.
