Experiences?

I had my first class today. I was supposed to go in the morning but panicked. In the afternoon I told myself "shut up, you are going" and got on my way. It wasn't as bad as I thought and I actually knew more than most of the other students.

hey Sacrament, good for you for going, specially since you felt panicky in the morning. I absolutely hated the process of getting my license. The hardest part for me was the actual driving test..it took me three tries to get it, i think because of the anxiety i felt with a stranger sitting beside me..watching my every move 8O ...but i'm so glad i did it, despite how difficult it was..cause to me, driving is freedom. Good luck..stick with it man

I am taking my own driver's education at the time, the classes are alright but I am a little scared becuase of the actual driving. It's just so much responsibility. (Actually, I use to panick even when I'm riding my bike, so you can imagine just how challenging driving is for me... responsibility not only for my own life, but lives of other's as well... having to stay concentrated and confident... react calmy and properly... well, it's a struggle  But Maggie's right, it's worth it.)

Good luck to you, Sacrament.

I got my learners license at 16. I took my test when i turned 18, and I had a panic attack and failed the first time around. The guy testing me was some dude who didn't say a word other than to point out my mistakes. The second time I had an instructor who made me feel more at ease, and I passed! :D

Thanks guys.

I went to a couple of classes today. The first one was different from yesterday's. We went to the warehouse where they keep all the cars and bikes and learned how to change the oil, etc.

well you should. Most of those people are like 15-16.

You assume I live in the States, but I don't. You need to be 18 to drive a car here.

And I agree with you, maggie. I can't wait to work and be able to pay for my own motorbike (I want to get a motorbike first) so I can go wherever I want and get some air.

Me too! I'm 20 and I haven't driven since I was 17. I took my drivers test twice and I was so anxious I was feeling physically sick during the test. I was seeing spots, my throat got so dry I couldn't even swallow, my head just started pounding. Yeah needless to say the first time I took it I failed because apparently it's bad if you almost hit another car. (Who knew?) and the second time wasn't much better. I remember feeling so embarrassed and ashamed.

I have extremely low confidence in anything that I do so even when I would practice drive with my mother I would always second guess everything I did, even the most obvious things that I knew I would still feel uneasy about. Now it's been 3 years and I'm quite acquainted with the city bus. I don't like it, I still wish I could get over my hang ups and just start to drive again but whenever I think about it I clam up. I need to do something though by May because my permit expires (again) that month!

Oh, and this is my first post here so hi everybody!

hi Sacrament :) ..hey, i think it's really cool they took you to the warehouse, and you learned how the change the oil and stuff. When i got my license, i basically just learned how to drive (barely) and had no training on basic car maintenance. That i've had to learn the hard way
