just got this stuff today. it states to apply last thing at night, will showering the next morning affect it at all?

It shouldn't do.

Don't apply too much, as it can have an adverse effect. I normally put it on every night for the first week or so of using it and then after that every 2nd or 3rd night just before going to bed. Works great for me.
