So, I was at the Cubs Drive-thru pharmacy earlier today, I was putting my insurance card and CC on the tray that slides out. Well, when I put my items on the tray, I attempted to push it back in, it obviously didn't work and she smiled and said "I have a button for that" and the pharmacisit(sp?) that came to explain seemed to be suppressing laughter. I felt really, really stupid.

Has anyone else experienced doing extremely stupid things in public?

Yes, I have done similar things where I felt quite stupid. Like the previous poster noted, I eventually realized that the things I did were not that "stupid," just simple mistakes.

Rather than thinking you made a stupid mistake, it would be more beneficial and more realistic for you to think that you made a simple mistake just like anyone else is capable of. That person behind the counter was rude in laughing at you. A more reasonable person would have said, "That's okay...it happens all the time."

So, let yourself make mistakes because everyone does, even that person behind the counter, and instead enjoy your life!

I work at a department store and that sort of thing does happen alot - usually when people are using the little credit card swipey thing (swiping, pushing wrong buttons.) It happens. At least you know for next time!

I do stupid things in public all the time, but rather than being embarrassed I laugh at myself (all right, sometimes I fake embarrassment). It helps make my stupidity look less stupid, and more often than not I don't care about it enough to worry about it afterward.

So I have no dignity left. Sue me.

Just ignore that, other people's reactions don't necessarily mean you performed a daft action, that person was probably one of those who laugh at everything^^.
