Does ETS surgery cure feet sweating?

Hey so since treating my hands with iontophoresis i noticed my feet have been sweating a lot or maybe i just noticed it more now that my hands are drier but my socks will be wet after walking on a hot day for just a little while and they sweat for no reason at all.

I think having hands and feet hyperhidrosis sucks. The only positive is that for me, my feet are worse than my hands which is good i guess for social purposes but this could also be because it's harder for me to treat my feet.

I'm wondering does ETS cure feet sweating along with hand sweating. I don't know what to do for feet. Using iontophoresis is already time consuming enough for my hands. And once again i'm sick of hearing the positive and negatives of ETS. It works different for every person and i'm getting to the point where i want something permanent and i dont' know what else to do. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help guys

Hey there
yes it does suck indeed having foot/feet HH, or probably any kind of HH.

I had ETS performed and 6 years ago and it did stop the hand sweating altogether..even though i get some CS in the summer, its tolerable and FAAAAAAR less worry for me than the hand sweating was. My feet however are just the same though. I just posted before saying i was considering getting an ion machine for my feet now my hands are under control, so the opposite of you.

Going by my experience..i would recommend the surgery for a permanant fix but of the hands ONLY. and thats just my experience..i could be one of the lucky ones that doesnt have a whole host of nasty side effects. My brother ..who had the same condition and had ETS as well DOES regret having the op as his CS is much worse than mine. So it is a risk.

so would you recommend iontophoresis? it works? is it painful?

There is technically no reason why ETS should help with feet sweating. With ETS, they cut the sympathetic nerve innervating the upper region of your body. If they would cut the nerve for the lower part as well you would get all sorts of problems, for instance you would become impotent...

The only thing is that some people still report their feet got better (not dry, but drier) after ETS, which might be down to less anxiety caused by palmar HH or maybe because it becomes less of an issue if the surgery yields positive results.

I wouldn't do it (my sweating is also far to generalised...so even if it would all work out as nice as you could hope in the bigger picture it wouldn't change my life much...and given the generalisedness the chance at severe CS would be quite big anyway) but I understand that some people do. Maybe if it was really just my hands but quite severe on my hands it'd be a consideration.

why you don't use iontophoresis to treat your feet HH? I think it is more safer than ETS.

I would have to respectfully disagree , i would never get surgury to cure any kind of sweating.... that's going way over the top. I know some people have worse problems than others like sweating but come on surgury for sweating that's messing around with your body a little too much id leave that alone.

I don't know. My feet literarlly can drip sweat at times and my hands are better than my feet thanks to iontophoresis. I can't take it though. Maybe i'll try acupuncture. No doctors really understand this condition and it sucks

how can you ever consider the operation just because other treatments "take more time"

i totally agree that most doctors don't understand this condition

but some of them do, and after 5-6 tries i found one, and got great help, even though i wish more could be done

you will shorten your life with this surgery
