ok here is my situation...i have anxities mainly social phobia and OCD..... i am student at university...when i am in my class... i feel bad...i am always very anxious that the teacher asks me a question..and i have to answer in front of everyone...etc... i fear people in other words...

i am pretty good with my family...does not have that fear and i dun want to know i have social phobia....(i have my reasons ..dun ask why)... for them..i am the coolest person in the house ...when actually i am the phobic one..I can hide my anxieties in front of my family but in front of other people...i blush, tremble, rapid heartbeat etc....

i started to see a psycologist for 5-6 weeks now and it's not really helping...so he recommended me a psychiarist....the latter prescribed me paxil and another tranquiliser for 10days ... took the paxil today... feeling a bit week and headache.... hmmm.. but still anxious... but now i am also anxious about paxil when i read the stuff on paxil... withdrawal symptoms etc... and i see that treatment requires long use of paxil(i mostly read that people take it for months..years)...

is it a good idea for me to continue taking paxil??? is there other alternate treatments??("less dangerous").... reply quickly plz as tomorrow i need tp decide whether to take my second paxil pill or not

edit:the post above was yesterday..i also took Risperdal last night as my doctor told me but i felt very very dizzy after 1hour ....i had to sleep immediately...

today i am still feeling dizzy and i have taken my second paxil pill.. hmmm.. i have been very dizzy all day.. sad.gif dun know if it is the paxil or Risperdal .... :(i think it's the Risperdal and i won't take it tonight... felt too dizzy...

anyone here tried paxil or Risperdal ?? do they work??
i still feel some anxieties... but i have no university yet...so cannot say whether my main anxieties(that is being with groups of people) are reduced with them

Hi, I took paxil for about a month, my family is the kind of family that doesn't really like medicines and the thought of taking them for months or even years and being dependent on drugs. I took paxil because the doctor said it would help my sweating and make me more comfortable in public. I have never really been diagnosed with social phobia, but I am pretty sure I have it to a degree, I am fine with family like you said. The paxil to me seem to change me, I felt kind of weird like I wasn't myself. I forgot to take it one day because I was out, and it was awful I felt horrible, terrible headaches, dizzy spells, light headed, everything you name it, and I am not one to complain. I got off of it by weaning off about a week later by the doctor, as I didn't think it was helping. I am not sure in your case you probably should talk to your doctor, that is just my experience with it.
