If you're looking for friendships online, as in it occurs only online, then you're going to be very disappointed. I know exactly what you're talking about. With Social Networking sites, added friends are like a new TV channels. Interesting in the beginning but predictable in the end. And, when there's new channels (online friends) being added, you always have someone new and exciting to talk to.

I reserve friend for someone that I have actually met a number of times. Sure, I might use it online in the colloquial sense, but I'm well aware of who my real friends are. And, it takes TIME to develop real friendships. i.e misunderstanding, Arguments, helping one another etc.

As I stated in a previous thread. You need to get yourself out in the real world and meet people if you want to make friends. You can start with meeting them online. But, if they won't hang out with you-MOVE ON!

I do think online friendships can be postive, and have a good outcome, just with alot of work put in to them. Although I think the only way they could really withstand the trails of time is if the online 'relationship' moved from the virtual world to the real.
(that for me would be the deciding factor).
