I wouldn't mind becoming a Zombie, I'm just hoping that I retain enough sanity to go after the people I dislike the most, and enough senses to enjoy tearing their hearts out.

But other then that 21 December is a bad day, if it was earlier I could skip on the Christmas presents.

Nothing is going to happen on December 21, 2012. There is absolutely NO real reasoning behind that.
However, if anyone wants to prepare for the future, you should start learning homesteading skills for the day when we run out of oil, because that's pretty inevitable. ::p:

someone comes up with a new date for the end of the world almost every other year. everyone thought the world would end in 1999, 6/6/06, and last year sometime (among tons of other ones). no one knows really. could end tomorrow, could end thousands of years from now. but really, does it matter? if its the end of the world its not like you could do anything about it

As has been repeated over and over, 12/21/2012 has about as much significance as any end-of-the-world forecast, read: none.

People who're bunkered up waiting for the 'Golden Horde' are a little nuts, and that's an example of preparation carried too far. But I know, anecdotally at least, there are a lot of folks who are completely unprepared for any sort of disruption (be that a natural disaster - I saw it in hurricanes Ike and Rita in 2005/2007(I think Ike was '07, anyway), something that disrupts the supply chain that lets us live as we do, or an honest-to-god-apocalypse). You're being pretty foolish if you aren't doing basics like keeping a few day's food and water in the house, first aid, etc. (Assuming financial circumstances allow, of course).

I have been thinking that it might be kind of cool to live in a Fallout 3 Post-Apocalyptic world. So if something major happens and I survive, I'll start my adventure. :p

I've lost track of the amount of apocolypse predictions that people have come up with. There was a big load of panic a few months ago over some priest claiming the world was going to end, then it was going to end a few months later, it was going to end on 1st Jan 2000, it's always going to end and somehow, miraculously... it's still here.

i'm stocking up on essential supplies, just to be safe

so far i have 25 cases of beer

i hope that'll get me through the first week of the apocalypse
By the time December 21 rolls around, you'll have 100 cases of beer. I think you'll be set.

It's almost like all those doomsday stories are bullcrap. Almost, eh? ;D::p:

Remember the mass hysteria when we were going from 1999 to 2000?

Yeah, nothing happened. Nothing is going to happen on December 21st either.

Although.... Dick Clark did die so that raises some suspicion. Just kidding.

The only preparation you need is a gun, ammo, the ability to shoot well and know who has what you need.. Then you just kill for what you need.. Survival in it's simplist form.

Just like any other day anyone has claimed 'the rapture will happen/the world will end'-- nothing will happen.

And if the world were to end by force of... erupting volcanos, sudden ice age, the world splitting in half/exploding, I doubt even survival items will help anyone. haha

Now... zombies on the other hand-- I am prepared for that even without a stockpile of anything for survival.

Can zombies swim? If not, everyone come to my house for the apocalypse.

I'd vote so-so.
They'd float and if a zombie were to go into the water, since water is actually a substance which allows the bodily decaying process to be slowed down, perhaps they would adapt to that and end up finding a way to swim in order to preserve their life for longer.
I'm giving the Zombies idea's aren't I...
