Hi all,
I think my story starts like a lot of people with SA. I was a young rambunctious kid, annoying all my brothers and sisters- so full of life and fun. Then somewhere down the line, something happened. I didn't know I had SA until just about 2 weeks ago, I'm now 29. I didn't even know there was such a diagnosis or thing called "social anxiety", I just thought I was strange, and that I would have to live under this condition for the rest of my life. I'm so happy to see younger people on here who have caught this condition in it's tracks, and who are so self aware of it now. It is truly great news! Like GI Joe says, "Knowing is half the battle!"
Wow, that was cheesy, sorry. But my question to you is this, How did you discover you had SA? What was the turning point for you personally? I think each of us has our own unique story and way of coming around to this condition. For me personally, it dawned on me on my 29th Birthday (which was several weeks ago) I didn't want to go out, I didn't want to celebrate or be around my friends at all, only be home away from people. In fact, as far as I can remember, birthdays were my worst days...because I was now the center of attention. I began to notice this pattern of avoidant personality, and how it was hard for me to keep friends etc, due to my anxiety. So what was the turning point for you? I'd be interested to know!
