buying things and the till thing

when you buy something and its your turn at the till what do you do while you wait? what to look at? the till the person?
this also applies at a bank when you pay money in or wish to take money out. when i have worked behind the till i have noticed people watch me putting their purchase through. Theres always something in social situations where we have to think what to do dear me ha

I get the plastic bags ready, put my bank card in the chip n pin, get my purse out, fuss over my baby son.... so I don't have to look at them, and so it looks like i'm too busy to look at them, weird, eh?

In banks I look around at posters on walls or something, pretending i'm interested in something LMFAO.

I also work in a shop and yeah I agree that alot people do watch me putting the purchase through and it makes me think "are they scared i'm gonna scan it twice or something?!" lol.

I generally look down at something in my hands, something on the counter or glance at stuff on the wall behind the cashier.

Nobody is watching you, you just assume so or yes they are watching you, because you think they watch you and do strange behaviours(like gazing someone etx) and they are looking at you!

I've yet to master the art of relaxing when paying for something. Usually, I end up staring at something on the wall or gazing at an object in the distance.

I look off in the distance, too, or maybe down at the stuff I bought. Hoping that the woman next to me doesn't notice me taking quick glances over at her. And if she does, hoping I can play it off like I was just looking at one of the tabloids they always have up front.

If its at the supermarket they have screens with the price and product so i just look at that while the scanning

my HH goes ballistic when im waiting in the line ill look aound, trying to distract attention from my hands, and then when theyre scanning everything I always think because the money I give them will be wet from my hands they might think I have stolen something..they must think im nervous because im sweating..and because Im so anxious I must look really guilty..sometimes they check the money and that makes it even worse, and finally, when I get the change and their hand brushes against mine I hate it!!! they must think im a freak! I prefer to use a card whenever possible

I can't believe I found this site! I didn't think anyone else had my bizarre phobia. I totally HATE the few minutes while you are waiting for the cashier to scan all your groceries. I have no idea what do to so I kind of stare around the store, and maybe I subconsciously stare at the cashier coz they always look at me like I'm the biggest asshole once it's time to pay. I hate it. I started taking St. John's Wort every day and it's a bit easier to cope...but still... Another phobia I have is when I'm walking down a street and there is only 1 or 2 people walking towards me...What the hell do you do? Do you ever make eye contact? It's so awkward it drives me nuts!!!
