Since exercise tends to help a lot with racing thoughts, worries, and depression. I thought I'd post this into the Treatments category. I often force myself to go jogging around the block along with performing a few basic body exercises.
For one thing it tires you out a bit, so you don't have as much energy to devote to worrying for the rest of the day. Oh, and it helps you fall asleep at night better too. Secondly, it increases your self-esteem. Makes you more fit, and makes you feel good about your will power as well as your body. It also builds endurance. Thirdly, a great distraction when you're ready to climb up the wall if only to stop your mind from thinking either "what if..." prior to an anxiety causing event or "why didn't I do this or that instead..." after the same type of event.
Also constant exercising keeps your muscles fit, which will help you a great deal later on in life when you won't be the one to injure yourself so easily when falling like other elderly can sometimes. This is definitely something to think about if there are chances that you're going to remain independent (a nice way of saying "alone" ) or if you just don't want to rely on other people for a while.
Anyway, didn't mean to sound like a bible-salesman gone wrong. I was just curious what the rest of you do to stay fit. I'd like to join a martial arts class or a yoga class eventually, have any of you taken those or any exercise classes in general before? What was that like?
