Being smarter when half asleep

this has nothing to do with sa or anything but i was wondering if you people have ever experieced yourself figure out certain problems you've been trying to figure when you were half asleep or even asleep. this happens to me all the time. i'll be trying to figure out something during the day like the name of a singer i cant remember and when im asleep it pops into my head as well as any recent problem i was trying to figure out and to top it off i remember all the answers to my problems and this is not in a dream. the other night this made me scared. i was betting on an nba basketball game, and it was the suns and clippers and since its out west i fell asleep so i couldnt stay up late enough to figure out the final score. well for some strange reason i remember in my sleep telling myself or something telling me the final score and it was 112-104 the final score, and i woke up knowing the final score when i didnt even hear or see anything happen after the 2nd quarter. when i read the paper i glanced at the score not thinking about it knowing i won becuase in my sleep i made myself believe that was the final. i than remembered that i didnt even watch the game let alone hear anything that happened past the second quarter. i got kind of scared and actually had to throw my breakfast in the trash and leave the deli. i got in my car and started shaking a bit and just went home thinking about how the hell this happened and why im getting all these answers in my sleep. later that night i asked my friend (who is really smart) about these experiences and he said this most likely happens because when you are asleep you use 5% more of your brains capabilities and its not common for this to happen to people and help them figure out problems, its just when your brain is relaxed it functions better. so he told me to go get checked out and take an i.q test or some crap. so basically i just wanna know if you people have experieced anything like this, cause i do atleast 2 or 3 times a week. soory for all this text, i type fast.

You may be experiencing déjà vu (the experience of thinking that a new situation had occurred before) Could be that your brain circuits are cross wiring. You think something has occurred after something triggers it…in your case you probably read the score and then thought…wow, I already knew that, but in actuality it could be just a stimulus-response problem…you thought you knew that after you read the score but you really didn’t know.

But on the other hand, if you woke up and said…”the score is this” then read it in the newspaper, then you’re probably psychic :D

Which one?

ya it may be stress related in a way but it is weird how it happens, cause it happens with the weirdest things. i remember one night me and my brother were trying to figure out what bike one of our friends rode back in the day when we were growing up and we couldn't remember it for the life of us, i couldnt even remember the color of it, and this was like 17-18 years ago since i seen this bike. in my sleep i didnt only remember the brand of the bike but i remebered the color, the color of the wheels and also that he had these things called donuts on his handlebar grips. that was one of the first incidents that happened to me like 3 years ago, and since than it happens all the time from things i cant remember or even things to make certain things better or easier in my life. its weird.

I know what you mean. I'm beginning to practice Spanish. I need notecards for simple words, but in my sleep I have fluent conversations. This has happened numerous times.

There is so much about the mind we don't understand. We do know that we use 10% of it. Makes you wonder about the other 90%.
