Avert

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if any Avert users could shed some light on my query. I currently have HH and have sweated more than most all of my life however for the past 1.5 years I have had on and off issues with anxiety to do with it and seem to mainly just sweat in a shocking amount when I feel trapped (having a meal or a meeting). The summer is coming and even if i can get over the anxiety i will still be sweating a lot doing nothing. I can't be bothered with this again so have ordered some avert from the Canadian pharmacy.

My question is regarding how it stops the sweating. In hot weather I sweat none stop but in average temperatures and my anxiety flares up then I sweat a lot for a minute or so then stop when soaked. I can feel this come on and suddenly get very hot (i'm sure everyone knows that feeling). Now with avert do you get that hot feeling but just don't sweat or does it stop it entirely?

This test with Avert is only temporary as I know that once I got a while without sweating I think i'll be able to come off it as I wont think about it.

Any advice will be very happily received.

Thanks a lot!

Hey david, my name is david too ^^. I don't have personal experience with avert or any oral medications, but what it does is that the chemicals pretty much block the sweat glands and prevents sweating. It's like an antipesperint on steroids working inside out, instead of outside in like topical applications. From what i read, you will feel hot and you can kinda feel your body wanting to sweat but you won't (Assuming avert works), i also know that some members taking oral meds saw their skin turn red blemishing since their hot but can't sweat. I also developed anxiety from HH and my therapy is a hard workout everyday and relaxing at a quiet park with my dogs listening to the winds blow around the trees, cuz i live by a busy street and listening to outside noise creates stress.

Working out pretty much makes me sore as hell for a day (a week if i haven't worked out in awhile) and makes me think about my soreness instead of my sweating. It also makes me feel better about myself and increase my self esteem which helps with anxiety. But, lifting weights isn't an overnight thing, it takes at least two-three weeks of good workouts at least 5x a week to help with anxiety imo.

Back to the avert. Be cautions cuz i heard taking oral medications does help, but has side effects if you take too much. Like blurry vision, dizzyness, nausea, fatigue, dehydration, etc.

Thanks for the quick response David. Ok that sounds good as I know that if I don't sweat for a while I wont get this anxiety increased sweat problem. I went traveling last summer for 5 months on my own. Lots of new people and lots of hot places and just had above normal sweating but none of these "attacks" so I think it is a mental thing that's making it worse.

I have always had OCD and I think my sweating has manifested itself in that hence why I think about it all of the time. Before sweating I had a thing about pissing and before that it was doing things in multiples of 4 haha. All of these were fine and a got out of the habits but this has turned into a physical thing lol!

In regards to breathing and exercise. I have tried the breathing to control it but once it starts I cant stop it. I run twice a week and lift weights 3 times a week and have been for about 3 years. I'm very athletic build so it's nothing to do with that. I have tried changing things in my diet included canceling protein and whey shakes but that didn't do anything!

Hopefully I'll have some luck from it so I can try to reduce the anxiety!

Hey dave, i don't even try the breathing exercise cuz it makes me think about my sweating more and makes me sweat more lol, i guess we're not professional enough to give it a full calming effect. But anyways, heres a thread i found very helpful regarding avert/robinul http://www.socialphobiaworld.com/avert-secure-robinul-experience-this-could-finally-be-it-12125/. I think buying a 2mg tab and cracking it in half (making it 1mg) to tryout first is a good idea. Then take the other half if 1mg isn't as helpful.

David,

I have the same condition. For one, I notice I get triggered easily into sweating more quickly than others. I would sweat quick and non stop if I am in that mode. Especially after heavy exercise, I still notice myself sweating after a shower or something.

I think we just have over-active nerves.

I've tried Robinul and know the feeling you're talking about. W/ these drugs, you are essentially numbing the nerves that want to sweat. As a result, you feel very hot. Try not to exercise when your fresh on the meds (as in, if you just took your meds, dont' exercise). It's bad for your body temp. Pushing yourself will strain you.

For me, I don't take any drugs on the weekend and exercise then.

But the anxiety sweat and exercise sweat are very diff't.
