I'm just curious, how long did it take you to feel comfortable around your work mates?

It was probably 4 or 5 years before I really started coming out of my "shell" there... I was also depressed when I started there, and as I got over that, I found my SA eased as well. It still takes me a while to warm up to people, but I think it's getting easier. It helps that I'm comfortable with the job itself... when/if I get a position with a new company, the process of getting comfortable would start all over, but hopefully wouldn't take years this time.

I was really depressed when i started my job too (i still don't know why i was even hired). I'm just getting over the depression now..my work mates are finally letting me be myself. I guess it takes time.

Anyone find that people think they are rude?

Sometimes...People may think I am stuck-up or in a bad mood simply because I rarely show interest in them.
Friends think I am pushing them away, and to a degree I do suppose that's true. I push everyone away, back to where they belong.

I'm positive people often mistaken me as rude or uninterested, probably why I'm so repulsive.

yeah people think I'm not asshole cause I don't talk

This is why I find it really hard to be myself around people. They think I'm rude, stuck-up, and cold but it's difficult for me to just smile, be jovial and engage in idle chatter. Though I agree that people should not expect everyone to be friendly and extroverted, I think they see it as an equivalent to how dogs wag their tails to express non-aggressive/friendly behaviour ^_^; I probably look like I bite.

I get all sorts of way off the mark assumptions made about me because of my shyness. Snobbish, unfriendly, aloof etc.

The really hilarous one is when people presume I'm incredibly nice and innocent. Little do they know 😉

I've been asked ''why are you so arrogant'' in my face when i was in my first job. It was hurtful because i'm no way arrogant, i thought that over confident people were arrogant? He was a mouthy asshole anyway, but it makes me think how people perceive me.

Other people think i am really nice and goody goody all the time because i'm shy.

Others think i'm boring.

Others treat me as a walkover.

This is exactly what I get! I was told once they got to know me (and realised i wasn't) that on first impressions i seem like im above everyone and far too good for them. If only they knew its the complete opposite.

my boyfriends walk all over me

and like u said to everyone else...im just boring

I feel like i dont talk because i dont want to be judged or i'll do something wrong...but i may aswell because they still think badly of me.

My mother's told me I'm rude in the past because I rarely talked to her, when she should know more than anyone that I'm just a very shy, quiet and withdrawn person in general. I hope other people can see that, but if my own mother can't, I'm not very optimistic.

I find that I think that people think I'm rude more often than people actually think i'm rude.

Heh, lots of people have told me that I seem unapproachable, arrogant. And that I appear to shun them, which offends them. Hence they think I am rude.

I feel like, quite often people mistake me for being rude, miserable, moody etc just because im quiet..

when i was little they would say...ahhh she's just shy. Now it seems thats not a good enough answer and if im not talking it must make me a grumpy person!

I wish people would not comment when somebody is quiet. It's very difficult to know how to respond when somebody comments that you are quiet. I have experienced this before on a number of ocassions and thought how off hand it was.

Try not to worry about what other people say, just be true to yourself you are fine the way you are ok

I think i might come off looking like i am busy & have alot on my mind & am consumed in my own day to day problems & totally unaware of anyone else mostly..but of course I am very aware of them...

Some might think so although I am polite to others. People normally think that I am stuck up. It has everything to do with my looks and I'm beginning to not even care.
