Anxiety Pep Talk

The New Year is nearly upon us and I trust we have all had the best Holiday Season.

Stress is a funny thing I have decided.

Why do I think this?

Well, one minute you think that you cannot stand another thing going wrong or one more negative comment or even an uncomfortable situation.

Put the panic and stress techniques into practice and use your visualization and positive affirmations.

The next thing you know you are feeling more confident and all of a sudden the things that were bothering you have shifted.

Your train of thought has changed and anxiety has gone out the door so to speak.

That is right, send it out the door for a long walk and tell it to get lost.

I got an iPod for Christmas this year and I have about 8 hours of music downloaded on it.

What is so great about the music is that I can have what I want on it and I can change it if I like.

It is great to have control over something even as small as my choice of music and where and when I am going to listen to it.

If we look at our lives there are many things we do have control over that we are not paying attention to.

Write down everything in your daily life that you can think of that makes your day belong to you.

Even the smallest things are to go on the list because they add up when you compile them.

Seeing all the things you have written can bring an awareness of the situation you are in at this moment.

When we are in the throws of stress and anxiety, it is easy to forget the reality of life and what is really going on.

The written word will put things in perspective and help us later when we reread our writing.

Many people use journalling to get a handle on anxiety.

This is a very simple thing to do and it costs so little money yet the benefits are priceless.

Make 2007 the year you start to get into the great habit of journalling.

This is something you can do anywhere and anytime of day.

I write in mine more than once a day. It is like talking to myself on paper and when I read back on some of the things I wrote it gives me an understanding of some reasons why I got stressed or what were the triggers that set off the panic attack.

Lets not forget to put our cut out pictures of our dreams from magazines or photos or even pictures we draw and put our written affirmations all around the house in key and favourite places so that we can stay motivated all day and see these things the last thing at night and the first thing in the morning.

We are changing the way we think of ourselves and we are getting positive thoughts put into our hearts and minds when we practice these really big and meaningful exercises.

Think of the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words .

This is why the pictures we see everyday of our ideal world and how we think of ourselves reinforce these new thoughts we are creating.

We can create our own reality.

Lets not let things like magazines and television tell us what to think and how to conduct our life.

We are all intelligent so lets help ourselves and end anxiety any way that we find works for us.

End Anxiety every day if you have to do it daily in the beginning until your mind learns new ways of thinking and behaving.

I am right here with you so let us End Anxiety together.
