another "do I have OCD" topic

I know there has been a lot of topics about if someone has OCD or not, but please bear with me. I have recently been searching the internet about why I have the problems I do and then i found a few symptons that i have which linked to OCD but i wasnt fairly sure. My mother told me it is just perfectionism, but im not sure. I'll just list my own symptons to see if i realy have OCD.

-I have a tendency to constantly look at myself. Why? I dont know. I usually spend 5-10 minutes staring at myself in either a mirror or even a car window. Then when I stop and leave I feel better :?: . I'm trying to stop by avoiding a mirror but doesnt always work.

-I always try to even things out. For example if I touch the left side of my face, ill want to even it out my touching the right side.

-I always have these weird and negative thoughts and try to cover it up with a pleasant and positive thought.

-I'm obsessed with scratches and imperfections. For example, if my new PS3 got scratched I would get all obsessive and always look at it for about 2 mins ( I know this is weird). Then when I get away from the ps3, i would start getting positive thoughts about how I could get rid of the scratches or make them unnoticable. Again, im trying to stop this by attempting to not look at the ps3 or whatever gets scratched.

-I used to (not much anymore) always have a ritual of making my bed and having the sheets so perfect and aligned at each side.

-I dont know if this has anything to do with OCD but I'm always worrying about something, and never having good thoughts. If I ever have good thoughts theyd only last for about an hour or so.

That's all the problems I know i have. So if anyone knows if I have OCD or not please tell me. I need to know, I've been asking myself this question too much.

Hi Rickster, welcome to SPW! I don't know if you have OCD, could be.

I mainly suffer from Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). But I also have all the other problems listed on this site: depression, panic attacks, agoraphobia, avpd, etc. All these seem related. It's like we are our own worst enemy.

I don't like labels, but we don't really have a choice. Language is one of the causes (if not the main cause) of our mental suffering.

welcome to this site. you are not alone

you know people who are left handed....they don't think about which hand they will use to pick up a glass. its just a habit.

these "habits" that you speak of ...may grow as the years go by. that is they may increase in intensity and length. or they may not.

the question you might want to ask yourself is "do I want to change"?

this is the starting point for all of us.

Hi,Hi I am new here. Want to introduce myself as someone who survive OCD, went on to conquer it. I am here to help people with OCD. As I gone through it before, I understand what it feels like, took me 2 years to treat it.

Yes you have OCD, BUT it is better if you confirm with a Doctor. The fact that you took a few minutes to look at something shows that your thought process is "stuck", and maybe have difficulty shifting to another one, typical OCD signs. But it is OK, so long you do not affect your daily life activities. Also you must learn to relax more.
