H, new here but had a thought.

I'm in the UK and I joined a meetup.com group to help with my social phobias. I meet new people and I thinks it is helping.

I was thinking, is there a meetup group for people with SP? if not is anyone willing to start one? Its hard meeting new people and I was hoping to meet people with the same problems as myself.

I think it's just strange that we set up a meeting and actually meet. I mean isn't the whole problem we have actually based on being afraid to meet new people and talk to them without blushing, fearing rejection and/or running away at the first chance? 8O

You'd probably be surprised, on SAUK they have a lot of successful meets. People can meet others who have similar problems and issues and socialise in a friendly environment. I'm going to one this weekend actually. I've been to one before, and yes I was scared and nervous but everyone was nice, and if it was that awful I wouldn't be going to another. Yes the first few are scary, but after a while you get used to it. It helps with your social skills and you don't get judged.

I know... I went to that site and i was really surprised. These guys meet all the time. I think they even set up a meeting while they're already meeting! :lol:

Seriuosly, i'm really happy for them they can do it and really wish i could do it myself one day.

I really hope you can one day, not so long ago it wasn't even remotely realistic to think I could go to a meet, but you can get better with time and I hope you do 8)
