I'm a person who grew up as a child of an alcoholic, but that's not what this is about. But I saw what alcohol did to my mom, kill her. Why? Because she was socially anxious because people were a*holes to her in the past, and she hardly ever socialized. So she drank to cover up those dreadful feelings of being so isolated and lonely. Sound familiar? Then she found that she couldn't do without alcohol to get her through the pain. Then she died at age 50, 87 pounds, and a very sad and lonely person. Take up a hobby, or find some other way to cope, you are never doing yourself any good by drinking. Even if it is just a couple once in awhile, you are literally causing more depression and anxiety, because alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. Care about yourself.
