A step to recovery

Hi, I like this forum a lot because everyone talks so openly about their issues. In the Internet we are all anonymous, scattered all over the world and it's so much easier to talk to strangers, however it's a good starting point for me :) I am just curious how do you deal with your social anxiety on a daily basis in real life. Do you tend to avoid stressful situations whenever you can or do you ignore your fears and try to cope with people despite pounding heart, blushing and sweating, hoping that the symptoms will wane in the long run and you'll eventually get used to it. Is there something that helps you control yourself? How does it affect your job or carreer path? Is there anyone who feels that he/she got rid of this condition and just visits this page for the sake of old friends? :)
