a parent who's a bully

hi just found this foum, so glad but sadden to see things havent moved on much since i was a child

i was bullied very badly at school to the point i got put somewhere else as was scared to even leave the house.

now i find myself in the situation where my son has had a parent of a friend of his raging insults at him, it ended in a blazing row. my son said something and said sorry to his friend, who i have to say accepted the sorry quite happily, yet his mother didnt. she said the most awful things about my son, who i did defend but then she turned it on to us to the point we are the most awful parents in the world, she dragged all the children who were playing with my son out the house and said they were only here to play with her child not mine and proceeded to rant and rave down the path about my son.

my 10 year old is lovely and has never bullied, never in trouble at school and is very bright, though doesnt have a wide circle of friends, as its a small school.

i feel so angry, i could hit her myself, though i do know thats not the answer, why would a parent go out of their way to cause trouble like this and isolate a 10 year old from all of his friends.

alot of people seem to lose their sight of reality when they become parents.

they have children, out of social obligation, or recklessness, not understanding what they go into, and start parenting in bizarre ways, not knowing what to do. and its always detrimental in some way, whether its like that , or to their child directly.

my parents tell me things people would call terrible.. things like about how i was only born because their peers kept asking them why they hadnt a child yet after they had married.. talk of how it was a mistake, scorning my dreams, whatever.. i think i hate them... but i try to look at it from they're outside, they should be pitied... because theres no maliciousness to what they're doing. they just dont understand reality. and this mother your talking about seems pretty delusional, if she thinks everything should revolve around her child because its that childs party..

ive been insulted by the parents of friends, for the most insignificant things, and looked down on. Sarcastic comments and what not...

i dont think alot of 'bullies' go out of their way exactly to hurt people... this one thinks she was helping her child in some strange way... and most just are looking for self gratification...

if other people piss you off, hurting them is fun... thats reality, and i think the thing that keeps me grounded is that i was bullied.. for me that means i can never become one.. or at least not one that continues.. what i suffered made rather bitter and vengeful

i dont really have an answer for you... i dont think there is an answer... beyond we're humans... and alot of people can't see anything other than their own world.. i think the ego is a big part of the problem
