A GP?

I've just lately been identifying with the symptons of social phobia. I think I've been suffering from it for a few years, but just recently, after starting a new college have noticed it become worse than ever. I haven't been able to communicate properly with barely anyone, and watching everyone around you forming groups etc has just made my self esteem worse. I talked briefly to a connexions online advisor who suggested I go to my gp. She said they may refer me to speak to someone (which is evidently what I want), but I'm just worried they won't take me seriously. I did make an appointment with my college counsellor, but this won't be until after half term (and a few days into week), and just the thought of going back there depresses me. So, is a gp the answer?

hi,im not sure if u have sp or not,as i dont know all ur symptoms, you might just be extremely shy,and starting at a new college, job etc will intensify these feelings for a while,i think it would be worthwhile going to see your gp,just for a chat and c what he/she suggests, its nothing to worry about honestly and there is help out there, good luck hope things improve 4 u!
