A few questions...

Hey!!
My name is Jordi and I am a student at the Australian National University. I don't have a social phobia myself but I have a friend that does. I found this website when I was looking for information to help her along - it was quiet useful!
At the moment for my Anthropology course am looking at the construction of the virtual identity and community. And I was just wondering if you could take a few minutes out to help me by answering a few quick questions below.
If you choose not to, I understand. I wish all of you here the very best. I know that what everyone here is going through must be very difficult. But I believe and pray that all of you have within you the strength, courage and beauty to overcome/cope with Social Phobia. Stay strong.

1) How did you come across Social Phobia World?

2) What drew you to become a member of Social Phobia World? Are these the same reasons that you continue to use the website?

3) Do you feel your social phobia when using this website? Why or why not?

4) Do you think that the way you interact online is different to the way you interact online? If yes, why do you think there is a difference?

5) Do you think that there are any similarities in the way you interact online to the way you interact offline? If yes, why do you think there are similarities?

6) Do you trust and feel supported in Social Phobia World?

7) Do you feel that you belong to this virtual community?

7) Do you think there are any social norms or expectations on Social Virtual World?

Thank you in advance for your responce.

All my respect and prays....
Jordi

1) How did you come across Social Phobia World?
A Wikipedia talk page had a link.

2) What drew you to become a member of Social Phobia World? Are these the same reasons that you continue to use the website?
Originally... to talk to real people with the problem. Now... to whine and give advice, I guess.

3) Do you feel your social phobia when using this website? Why or why not?
Mostly, no, because I can reread my posts before anyone else sees them.

4) Do you think that the way you interact online is different to the way you interact offline? If yes, why do you think there is a difference?
Yes, I'm more open, I talk to strangers much more, mostly because of what I said to the last question.

5) Do you think that there are any similarities in the way you interact online to the way you interact offline? If yes, why do you think there are similarities?
Yes, I am the same person, so I have the same opinions, etc, and I like the same kind of people.

6) Do you trust and feel supported in Social Phobia World?
Mostly, yes, sometimes very much.

7) Do you feel that you belong to this virtual community?
Usually. Not always, because other people have much worse problems than I do.

7) Do you think there are any social norms or expectations on Social Virtual World?
Yes... there is everywhere.

I hope someone else responds to this as well.
