Spiriva/tiotropium bromide

Hey guys,

As you might know from my earlier posts glycopyrrolate seems not to be available here in the Netherlands, and neither is propantheline bromide. So I've been looking for other anticholinergics of the quarternary amine kind (the kind that doesn't cross the blood/brain barrier and therefore gives less side-effects and a little more piece of mind concerning the Alzheimer claims made about the tertiary amines like oxybutynin and so fort) that are available.

Seems like the only ones in regular use here are tiotropium bromide (Spiriva) and Ipratropium bromide (several brand names). Both are used with an inhaler for the treatment of COPD.

However I was thinking, since these substances are basically similar to glyco (same basic function, all quaternary amines) they might work the same way to reduce HH as well.

Tiotropium is particularly interesting since it has a long effectiveness, so you could take one dose every morning and that's it...(also, it has more affinity for M3 muscarinic receptors, which are likely the ones most responsible for eccrine sweating).

So, just the outside chance that anyone has used this...?
