Some deeper questions about panic attack symptoms...

Every website I've seen about panic attacks almost always has the same list of symptoms. The symptom of chest pain isn't too detailed. What kind of chest pain? Is it short burts of pain or a constant discomfort?Where does the pain occur? Mine tends to be in different places at different times...mostly in the very center of my sternum, but sometimes on the left or right and high or low. How long does the pain last? Sometimes I have chect pain with no panic attack...and sometimes I have panic attacks with no chest pain.

Can you please share with me detailed descriptions of your chest pains?

Thanks!

I have a mate u has quite a few panick attacks, she tends to get a tight feeling in her chest, got no technical words but it tends to just make her more wound up, thts why u may get 'try to relax' alot ! She has mentioned however the pain can differ in different situations, e.g. she tends to be quite bad in things like school assemblys, but she has managed to control them, and focus on something else, which is hard ! but can be done

Hi, I get rapid heart beat,sweating palms,cant breathe,tight throat,shaking inside and out,giddy,pounding head,bad stomach,unreality etc..
peoples symptoms vary, some people have many whilst some have just a few.
I get them in most situations from shopping to school assemblys.
Some people have a trigger situations where as others its random( anytime, anyplace).
Its learning to breath correctly, relax and know it cant kill you how ever bad it feels.

Yep...that's it. The pain is just about ANYwhere. With me, I can FEEL my heart beating against my chest...and the tightness around the whole area makes me feel like I can't breathe. I found out that it is a MUSCLE spasm that creates that feeling brought on by adreneline. It relaxes and goes away in a few minutes...The brain chemistry is amazing! It can create a sense of urgency to the WHOLE body, even our sympathetic nervous system to RUN! Even when we are sitting still or sleeping...! We do survive this, but it is like running a marathon while we are sitting! Not fun.

Don't drink anything with caffeine if you have panic disorder! It only MAKES it worse. And drinking adequate water does help...when we are dehydrated, our heartrate goes UP. (don't over-do it, but just be aware of it.)

Also, I have found that when I excercise regularly (even in modest amounts), I have less stress and less attacks. I hope this helps.
