Robinul -- burning skin side effect

I was hoping that Robinul would help with my sweating problems, but unfortunately I had to stop taking it on two occasions due to side effects.

The first time, I tried it for 3 days with 1mg each morning on an empty stomach & without food for about 2 hours. My sweating was not affected at all. I had some minor "medicated" feelings & dry mouth. However, the worst side effect was that my skin started to feel overly hot and almost burning on the 3rd day.

I decided to try another time. This time for another 3 days with 2mg each morning. My sweating was less this time around however the "medicated" feelings & dry mouth were pretty bad. One morning I tried to eat a muffin and it was like a sponge in my mouth. I couldn't even swallow it. The thing that was the worst though once again was the burning skin sensation. Both times this didn't really start taking effect until the 3rd day.

I'm disappointed, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this burning feeling since I haven't seen it described anywhere as a side effect. I know there are other classes of anticholinergics though, although I'm afraid that they will still have the same effect.

Robinul has been a godsend for me luckily, almost a complete cure. I do get the drymouth on occasion and you didn't mention drinking any extra water. Most people don't drink enough as it its. Might help. Never heard of the burning skin. Should probably ask your doctor. Where did you get the pills?

Sounds like your dosage or med supplier is out of whack. Talk to your doc about a different approach to ease in to the medication. If you don't have one (you didn't say) then go that route instead of some internet pharmacy. The side effects are aggravating but for me worth it. I have never had or heard of your burning skin problem until now. I noticed my side effects faded after about 2 weeks on the Glycopyrrolate. I take 2 mg at 5am on an empty stomach and then a 1mg kicker at 11am if needed. I can't tell you what do do or how much you can handle but don't give up on this medication. It has been a life saver for me and has changed my life completely. I understand that taking it is a trade off and I'm still learning how to lessen the side effects of it. Others may not agree but I feel that Robinul is your best shot at controlling HH. For me it is my chemotherapy for this cancer. Chart your dosage, times, meals and effects and try to find a routine that is tolerable. If you question the med supplier then go to a trusted dermatologist and and get a local pharmacy prescription.
