Progress to a certain point?

Anyone else feel that there is a law of diminishing returns when it comes to SA? My SA may not be that bad, because I can work, shop, go to the pub and so on, but however much I expose myself to these situations I just can't get rid of the anxity, my stomach keeps aching with worry even if I'm just going down to the supermarket.

I know you can prevent further deterioration by forcing yourself to do things, and there will probably be some improvement, but at some point SA just doesn't seem to get any better, the curve flattens! Yes, you can do things, but the worrying never stops. I guess that there is no absolute cure for SA, you just have to condition your brain to live with the fear.

Just once, though, it would be great to be able to go to the shop and not feel like I'm going to the dentist to do a root filling.

yes i definatly relate to this cLavain. Luckily for me going to the shops isnt a problem, but if I have to do anything Ive not done before or not in a while anxiety is triggered. Things like going to the cinema, going on a plane, going to a night club...and the 1 im really worried about atm is a trip ive got planned with work this week. Work for me is fine aslong as its routine but this is something very unusual. Nobody at work no1s about my anxiety so if i have a panic attack while on this trip people wont understand and im too embarrased to tell any1

I am the same. I am fine with routine things like going to the shops. Its when I am put in a social situation with people I don't know too well that I feel most uncomfortable.

Yes,it's just like that. I can do things normally, but I can't get rid of the anxiety. I think there's no total cure for it.

Yes it's like that for me as well, I think it's inbuilt in my brain processes by now.

What is worst is that the initial part of the curve is quite steep before it flattens...meaning that if you just lower you guard for a while and reduce "social excercise" you can really lose a lot of confidence, and very quickly.
