Pregnant and OCD

My wife is pregnant with our first child which is fantastic! We are very excited. However it has somehow triggered OCD with her. I am new to this site and new to understanding OCD. This site has been helpful. Has anyone gone thru a pregnancy with OCD?

Contamination seems to be her biggest fear. She will wash her hands constantly for hours on end. Her showers are now up to 12 hours straight. I think this happened after she saw that stupid Dove soap commercial where they DRAMATIZE soap residue left on the woman after showering. Once something gets in her head, no matter how rational/irrational, she will act accordingly to relieve her anxiety. I actaully don't want her to see this forum as some of the posts may trigger additional anxieties. she knows her actions are irrational but she can't stop. she is now depressed.

I am doing everything i can to relieve her anxieties but at the same time i think i am enabling all of this. for example, i have take on all the household duties around the house so that she doesn't have to wash her hands afterwards.

Can anyone relate? Any advice?

My wife has ocd, it was mild for the first 8 years of our relationship, about 2 years ago when she got pregant, its when it all fell down.

her ocd became a million times worse, and it hasnt gone away, it only got worse.

my daughter is now 16 months old, and our relationship is screwed, and its basically looking at leaving her because we are in the way of her hording and cluttering.

im sorry, this is not the news you are looking for.
