Do you think your OCD is genetic ? Is there anyone else in your family suffering from OCD or is it just you?

I believe in some cases (like mine) it is genetic. Both my aunt and my first cousin have severe OCD, my grandmother is bipolar, my dad has PTSD, and my mother and my other aunt both suffer from depression.

So I believe these all factor in somehow.

did your dad go through some kind of traumatic experience which made him suffer from PSTD? I think I might have had PSTD before OCD since I went through this terrible ordeal where I felt like I lost that battle and became completely hopeless about the situation. And I was depressed at the time but I didn't stay depressed for long. It was quickly replaced by OCD behavior and rituals.

My great-gran was schizophrenic or something, no one on my mum's side really talks about it and they're really the ones who know about her, and she ended up killing herself... Two of her daughters have some kind of problem or another-- bipolar and OCPD, mainly, I think. They don't really believe in psychology. x3 My paternal gran has some kind of anxiety disorder, agoraphobia included. One of her daughters has panic attacks, as does my cousin on occasion... As far as I know, that's all, though quite a lot... I guess.
