My experience w/ Avert/Robinul so far, a few ?s for others..

Had my first appointment back in September, where at first botox was suggested for underarm hyperhidrosis. When I mentioned that I do have some problems in other areas (like my hands when I'm nervous, my feet sometimes, my forehead when I get warm/hot, even in my crotch area sometimes, a little embarassing to say) he suggested the Robinul which I had planned to ask and was the reason I was going.

Anyway, I started off with 2mg a day for the first week, 3mg a day for the 2nd week, and 4 mg a day for the 3rd week and then a followup. I noticed that towards the end of the first and second week, the increase was needed. By the time I got to 4 mg a day it seemed to be working very well. I did of course have the side affect of dry mouth. Lots of water, candies, etc.

However, I'm now getting a little concerned b/c the other day I used 5mg instead of 4 because I was going to an amusement park where I'd be outside all day in various conditions. It's now been 4 days since then and I find it's still working with 4mg, it seems to wear off a little sooner or not be quite as effective earlier on in the morning soon after I took it. Usually it works very quickly.

Also, I have another side effect of, um, urinating. When I have to go, sometimes it takes me more time to start, like anywhere from a few seconds extra to usually 10-15 seconds. Once I finally start, the stream never quite comes out as quickly or as much as without the pills. Most of the time, it will come out slowly, and then trickle down to very little, and then come out again at a greater force, but not as much as the original stream, then die down to a trickle, and sometimes even a third stream. In the end, I rarely get that "finished" feeling like I always did before the medication. Very weird. And to test whether it was the medication, I skipped a day and urinated perfectly fine and normaly. Anyone else experience this?

Anyway, I'm thinking of order Secure wipes from pharmacy.ca to use in the morning to supplement or to use after taking an evening shower if I'll be going somewhere at night. Or, perhaps to use instead. The only problem is that 1.) They cost a lot more than the $10/month copay I pay for the generic, and 2.) I think it's only up to 2% wipes and I currently take 4mg of glycopyrolate.

Does anyone know where I can order secure wipes or if they can be found in stores anywhere in the United States? Perhaps somewhere cheaper?

Has anyone's body "gotten used to" the medication and glycopyrolate doesn't work anymore? I've got 4 more refils (4 more months) worth of prescription... If wipes will work and I can find them cheaper I'd prefer those due to the dry mouth/urinating issue.... But if not I'll keep taking 4mg and if the effects continue to wear off I may go the botox/secure wipes route.

It seems the 5mg is causing the urination problems. I have not noticed any change in urination, but I only take 2-3 mg per day.

I think you can get the secure wipes from that pharmacy.ca site. You could try that if the Robinul is not working out for you.

It's not the 5th mg that caused the urination issues, it's been an issue since day 1 when I started out at 2mg and built up.

I know I can get Secure wipes from pharmacy.ca... I asked if there was anywhere cheaper or possibly in the United States.. another website, brick & mortar store, etc?

I take 2mg a day and I get the exact same urination problem. It's kind of ironic if you think about it. The pill causes us to have dry mouth which makes us drink more, but also makes it harder to pee. Oh well, I think it's a small price to pay to be dry.

I have had the same urination issues while taking Robinul. It is worth it to stop my sweating of my hands and feet, but at first I thought I had a urinary tract infection because it felt just like that!

The lack of pee ability might be your dry body saying "nooooo, don't take away my last fluids!"

I have underarm and foot HH and I've never heard of secure wipes or rubinol...I am fortunate to be living in Canada if pharmacy.ca is where we get this stuff...

Does it really work? I've tried botox but for just under $1000 for 3 months IF THAT, it's hardly worth it...also, my body seems to get used to Drisol too fast....and it burns like a MOFO!!

Great community, will be registering later today..
