Is trying to understand everyone bad for your mental health

Hi everyone,

I guess the title says it all really. I think part of my problem is that, aside from feeling awkward and nervous around others, I am constantly trying to understand whats going on with other people. I cant really help it...and I dont know why I care about it so much.

I cant read other peoples minds, and I am sure my assumptions about how other people tick are probably incredibly inaccurate, so I ask you...is trying to understand how others are, and why they are the way they are doing me more damage than good?

I hope this makes sense, any feed back, as always is appreciated..

As an afterthought, perhaps trying to understand other people is just a euphemism for "caring what people think of me.."...maybe.

I think over-analyzation is a product of social phobia, and not the other way around. And so, at worst, it keeps you were you are. Keeps you in the same old rut. It's doubtful that it could make things drastically worse.

Butt these are merely assumptions of course. :3
